Sher Mohammed and his brothers open a warehouse business which develops into the Sher Brothers “Cash & Carry Empire”. Sher Mohammed came to Glasgow in 1938 from village of Kot/Chak no. 477 G.B near Faisalabad. He had no schooling and started working as a peddlar – selling clothes door to door.
Sher Mohammed and his brothers (Mohammed Ali, Hashmat Ali and Rehmat Ali) open a small wholesale drapery warehouse in Gorbals Street which has now developed into the Sher Brothers Cash & Carry empire.
The growing business was running under the leadership of Mr. Rafiq Sher (eldest son of Sher Mohammed) until his untimely death in a car accident in 1997.
