Mr Sultan Ansari opens the Taj Mahal restaurant in 1955 around Christmas time in Park Road, Glasgow.
Mr Ansari took his wife for their honeymoon to see the real Taj Mahal in Agra, India and loved it so much he bought a replica of it which was kept inside the restaurant. A Taj Mahal restaurant opened in 1938 in Glasgow during the Empire Exhibition, however it is believed not to be related to the one opened in 1955.
