Rozina Rasul, a local resident of Glasgow started Karate (combination of Kumite and Kata) at the age of 19 in 1991 in her local Giffnock Kenshikan. She started by training 2-3 times a week as well as going to the gym.
In 1997, she competed in the Scottish National Championships, held in Kelvin Hall, Glasgow. She won a gold medal in Kata and silver medal for Kyu Grade Kumite. She also competed in the UK nationals in Durham and came 3rd in the ladies Kumite.
She is an advocate for women enjoying sport in particular Karate in order to have the ability to self- defend themselves.
[Kumite is one-on-one combat where you pit your skills against an opponent, fighting open hand. Kata’s are designed to teach a particular stance or technique which in competition involves the individual to perform a blend of combat related movements, some fast and some slow.]Location: Glasgow, Scotland
