This is the story of Mr Mohammad Shafi who migrated to Pakistan (originally from Mardarpura village in Jagraon sub-division of Ludhiana district) after partition in 1947.
He arrived in Scotland on 25th May 1950 and soon after he started working as a pedlar. Initially he stayed with his friends, Kartar Singh and his younger brother Hazara Singh for nearly 2 years. Shafi and Hazara were both childhood friends that had grown up together in India. He also knew Mr. Mohammed Atta Ashrif from Tanda & Ashrif warehouse in the Gorbals. Atta Ashrif and Fateh Sharif were from the same village as Shafi back home as were his Sikh friends. He eventually bought his own flat in Hospital Street Gorbals.
