Coined in the 1970s, ‘Herstory’ was a term used to reclaim space for the female groundbreakers of the era left out of the history books. Fifty years on, Colourful Heritage presents a series of talks delving into the lives of women who have transformed the South Asian community in Scotland for the better. Breaking moulds and shattering stereotypes, juggling careers with children, family and marriage, these discussions will uncover the unique stories of pioneering women in their very own words.

While Perveen has found herself in the public eye for her marriage to the UK’s first Muslim MP and present Governor of Punjab, Mohammed Sarwar, it is her tireless work both as a mother and the vice-chairperson of an international humanitarian provider (the Sarwar Foundation) that should command the real attention. As President of the Pakistan Girl Guides Association, in Punjab and a leading campaigner for women empowerment, hepatitis eradication and the provision of clean water in Pakistan she has a wealth of experience and gems of wisdom to share.

Join Saqib and Perveen for a candid conversation on everything from marriage to racism, working, motherhood and her charity work!
