This short documentary commissioned through the Culture Collective initiative and directed by Felipe Bustos Sierra offers a powerful portrait of Govanhill, one of Glasgow’s most diverse and resilient neighbourhoods. It highlights its activism, community-led initiatives, and challenges such as gentrification and housing inequality.
In particular the segment at 12:00 – 20:00 mins focuses on South Asian fabric shops, featuring Colourful Heritage Project Officer Dr Saqib Razzaq, Al Jannat staff and the late Zarina Begum, who ran one of the most popular fabric shops on Cathcart Road in Glasgow.
