Mr Zahid Ashrif takes us on a journey through the lives of his grandfather, Mr Atta Mohammed Ashrif and father, Dr Ibrahim Ashrif MBE.
In 1933, Mr Atta Ashrif set up the Jamiat ul Muslimin (later known as the Jamiat Ittehad ul Muslimin) and after finally buying Oxford Street Mosque in Gorbals, he was the first person to give the call for Adhaan. When founded by Mr. Atta Ashrif, it was a small organisation, but eventually it became the most important and influential Muslim establishment in Scotland.
“Well studied” does not do Dr Ibrahim Ashrif justice. Always striving for his absolute best, Dr Ashrif has worked with research teams in Gambia and with the United Nations. His work has rewarded him with an MBE from the Queen, an unbelievable achievement. Dr Ashrif never stopped learning, and continued to learn throughout his adulthood. His diligence and drive is something to aspire to.
Having worked in his grandfather’s warehouse, Mr Zahid Ashrif talks about the valuable gems he has picked up from his grandfather and father. Follow this amazing story through generations!
